ST. MARY IGIKIRO FOUNDATION

We are a charitable foundation registered in Kenya and based in Murang'a county, Kenya. Being majorly an education-focused charity foundation we works towards realization of a philanthropic impact in our society by ensuring access to education, healthcare and psychosocial support to the less fortunate in our society; mainly the orphans and vulnerable children. This remains our core business.

IMPACT ASSESSMENT

Education Achievement

Milestones in Education

Education being our core business, over the last 14 years we have managed to support about 1500 pupils to achieve their basic education from ECDE to standard eight (Std. 8) education levels.

About 54 individuals from this group of pupils have successfully gone to university and successfully completed their degrees(some master's degrees) in various fields of study.

We have a great number of these alumni who are in the working industry having attained qualifications at various levels (vocational, degrees, colleges and on-work skills) and fields of study.

We are determined to continue with this gear to ensure the foundation will eventually has a self-sustaining system supported majorly by these alumni materially, technically and morally as the fraternity continues to grow and prosper.

We believe in education to bring about equity in terms of opportunity access and reduce poverty levels in those households whose children find a safe haven in our programs.

Health and Psychosocial Impact

Our school facility has been, and continues to be, an important hub for the Kenyan government to roll out mass immunization, vaccination and administration specific vitamins to children.

Virtually half of our population of pupils every year usually depend on the foundation for clothing while at school and in some cases while at home.

We feed our pupils at school with the support of contributions from well-wishers and donors both from within and out of the foundation fraternity.

Livelihood Support Programs
In the past we have initiated and supported goat rearing to some of the poor households to support their livelihood. This program is still supporting ten(10) households since 2013 to date.

Positive Image in Our Performance

From our good social responsibility we have had a number of partners in the past coming in to support our charity work mainly by provision of capacity building, material support and in some instances financial donations. This has been made possible due to the great trust private players and government agencies have in our work.

Whenever we have a partner we make a great milestone in achieving our charity goal. It is on this spirit of social responsibility that we are seeking funding opportunities, grant and donation help and any other form of positive partnership.

We acknowledge and appreciate the unmatched support that we have gotten in year 2025 from Leaving Under The Same Sun (LUTSS).
OUR PARTNERS
With a of charity service we have had partners that supported our work on realization of how impactful our programs have been in touching the lives of those are most needy in our society.

Living Under The Same Sun-LUTTS

We would like to acknowledge the great support LUTTS has accorded our program in education since year 2023.
They have been of great help in establishing and upgrading our washrooms and kitchen, procuring school text books and ensuring smooth running of and learning in our school. We are always grateful for the good work.

PAST
Grassroot Alliance for Community Education-AFRICA

GRACE Africa supported us to undertake the goat initiative that ensured parents and guardians of our needy pupils had an alternative source of income to support their livelihood. They were also of great help in carrying out psycho-social services to to the community  from2011 t0 2013. The impact they helped to create still stand conspicuously in our society up to date.

OUR SWOT ANALYSIS

From analysis of our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing our charity organization we are able to determine areas of need and where we have enough to offer thus improving efficiency and minimizing flaws in executing our duties in our community work.

1. Internal Strengths in Our Charity

Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.

Established Physical Facilities

Classrooms

We have established a total of 10 classrooms, an office block and a staff block. These classrooms harbor our pupils for learning, counselling and interactive sessions.

02.
Kids Playing Equipment

We have installed a number of playing equipment in the school to let the children have fun in the school  during breaks and physical exercise sessions. These sessions help the children to disengage their minds from the challenges they may be facing back at home.

In addition, we have a playground that allows the pupils to engage in different games to ensure they develop their talents and be active in co-curriculum activities.

03.
Experience and Resilience

Bringing Strength

We have scooped a great deal of knowledge and expertise in charity work over the years helping us to build resilience in both teaching and running the foundation.

Our support system ensures the less fortunate are never alone on their journey, offering guidance, resources, and solutions when they need them most.

We are also versatile in developing schedules and manuscripts to do outreaches when visiting pupils, parents and guardians at their household level.

Myriad of Learning Aids

Over the years we have put together diverse categories of text books, library resources, newsletters and other materials necessary for delivering contents in classes.

2. Our Internal Weaknesses

Small Administration Block

With so many programs to administer and many materials, equipment ant tools to offer custody for, our small office and staff rooms are not enough to accommodate these.

No School Means of Transport

Our school does not have either a van nor a bus that can be used for transportation purposes. This has contributed to high cost during mobility as we are forced to hire vehicles from other institutions. We miss some opportunities as we are not able to obtains such vehicles sometimes.

Old Physical Facilities in Need of Renovation

Our classrooms have old roofing that are in dire need of replacement. The floors are earthed as the cemented surfaces are worn out.

Seats and desks for our pupils need to be remade and others to be replaced as many are old..

Need for Spatial Room for Expansion

Our land is small relatively to the space needed to play some games like football, establishment of a bigger administration block and more classrooms as we anticipate to improve our system to include senior secondary school.

Lack of a Laboratory and Lab Equipment

As a requirement by the Kenyan system of education, lab a nd lab equipment are essential to the current system of education. Currently we do not own such facilities and we go to other schools for lab sessions a practice that is quite inconveniencing.

Opportunities and Threats

3. Opportunities

We have cordial relations with different partner entities: government departments & agencies, partner organizations and resourceful individuals for a better performance.

There are many entities out there looking for charity foundations in education and health like us ready to partner, fund and capacity-build for a more strengthened society.

Today's digital world  allows us to communicate globally, partner with interested parties from whatever corner of this world and become more enlightened and knowledgeable.

4. Threats

With the current ever-changing Competence-Based Education (CBE) system in Kenya the cost of implementation has been on steep upward trajectory.

The recommended text books are rendered obsolete now and then which means great negative impacts on our budgets.

Teachers are required to re-learn sporadically reducing their class time and increasing costs on the foundation budget.

Teaching aids are required to be changed or their number increased more often.

Underfunded budgets vis a vis high demands for our services. Contributions from within our charity are far meagre calling for support from supporters in any form be it grants, donations, sponsorships, scholarships or crowdfunding. For this cause kindly reach out to us here.
